Proceedings
The fet11 proceedings are now available online
fet11, The European Future Technologies Conference and Exhibition, 4-6 May, 2011, Budapest Hungary, aims to be the European forum for facilitating cross-disciplinary dialogue on visions and challenges for frontier research.
Aim
The scientific conclusions and perspectives from the keynotes, topical sessions, and posters will be published by Elsevier as proceedings entitled fet11essence. The aims of these proceedings are to document the current state of thinking and future perspectives on a broad range of topics that cut across many disciplines. The vision, common to all contributions, is to explore the frontiers of future information and communication technologies.
The presentations should be at a conceptual level, with few technical details, in order to allow interested experts from other communities to gain a quick overview, and lay the basis of future cross-disciplinary exchanges.
Formats
fet11essence will feature three types of contributions:
- fet11keynote: Keynote speakers at fet11 are invited to contribute a 1-2 page abstract of their presentation, presented at a high level of technicality in science language. The technical body of the abstract should be supported by 2-4 key references (including maybe a URL).
- fet11session: Sessions organizers at fet11 are invited to contribute a 4-page manuscript. It will contain name and affiliation of session chairs and active contributors, a short abstract and list of keywords. The summary of the session should be accessible to scientists from other disciplines and presented at a high level in science language. As sessions at fet11 will bring together a broad set of scientific communities, as well as industrial and societal stakeholders, the presentation of the session manuscript should clearly (i) present the state-of-the-art in the related sciences, (ii) an outline of novel prospective research challenges, (iii) well formulated grand challenges, research questions (iv) evidence that pursuing this vision will lead to major advances in the respective research field. Position statements, whitepapers or research prospects that present mature, common or already published work will not be accepted. The session manuscript further should be supported by a maximum of 10 key references (possibly including a URL pointing to a repository of session contributions - session organizers will organize, structure, present and host the respective resources on the web).
- fet11poster: posters authors at fet11 are invited to contribute a 2-page abstract of their revised (after acceptance notification) manuscript, presented at a high level in science language. The technical body of a poster manuscript must be compliant with the scientific practice in the respective discipline, and must deliver new scientific insight and prospective research frontiers. The abstract manuscript should be supported by 2-4 key references (possibly including a URL pointing to more detailed information).
