L’EPFL dans la course aux milliards (DR) L’UE a lancé hier six projets qui révolutionneront les technologies de l’information. Deux seront choisis en 2012 et soutenus à hauteur de 1 milliard d’euros sur 10 ans. Sur les six projets présélectionnés, trois sont coordonnés depuis la Suisse, à l’EPFL et l’EPFL - «Mieux utiliser ces sommes d’argent» - Des anges gardiens électroniques - Simuler le fonctionnement du cerveau - Editorial. Robots in everyday life
Mainly robots which resemble humans as well as computer systems controlled by the human brain are on display at the conference which was opened yesterday in Budapest. The three-day meeting was organised with the aim of finding out which development projects are worth supporting.

Research projects vie for EU's €1bn funding prizes

Ft.com (04/05) reported that the EC selected six research projects as flagship research initiatives. The announcement was made at the Future and Emerging Technologies conference in Budapest. Commissioner Kroes was quoted as saying: “In particular they aim to improve today’s insufficient transfer of research efforts to technological solutions and industrial applications” (SPEECH/11/306). The projects were briefly described. Robert Madelin was also quoted.
